FAQ
What does a court cost?
This can vary depending on the size, design, and site conditions. As a general guide, a complete Earthworks/Excavation, Reinforced Concrete, Hoop, and Tile Supply and Installation for a 5m x 5m court is approximately $15,000.
For a rough estimate, you can use the following formula:
Width (m) × Length (m) × $600 = Estimated Cost
Example:
5m (width) × 5m (length) = 25m²
25m² × $600 = $15,000
Please note that additional features such as netting, hoop selection, site access, and other custom options can affect the final price.
We also offer DIY installations, partial installations, or supply-only options, and our team is happy to assist with any combination that suits your needs.
How long does it take?
The typical timeline we aim for is as follows:
-
Once the site plan is agreed upon and the deposit is paid, the tiles are ordered to your personal specifications.
-
Excavation and concrete work can usually be completed within 1 to 2 weeks.
-
In the following week, the hoop and netting (if specified) can be installed. At this stage, the court can be used even without the tiles.
-
Tile delivery generally takes around 5–6 weeks from the date of deposit. Once the tiles arrive, we return to install your court surface and finalise the project.
Please note that weather and site conditions can affect this schedule, but we always strive to stay as close to the planned timeline as possible.
Can I DIY this?
The simple answer is yes! I’m happy to provide advice, working drawings for trades, or even come out and assist for a fee.
Whether it’s easy really depends on your experience with construction.
-
The tile installation is usually achievable by most people.
-
However, the earthworks, concrete pour, hoop mounting pier (which must follow the manufacturer’s specifications for safety), and hoop installation can be quite challenging.
Even a “simple” hoop installation can be a five-person job for first-timers and can easily damage—or even destroy—a $2,500 hoop if not done correctly, as they are very heavy. The hoop pier installation is especially important for safety, as improper setup can cause the hoop to fall during use.
We’ve worked with clients who initially purchased a hoop expecting an “easy job,” only to find themselves overwhelmed—with an expensive hoop sitting unused and disappointed kids waiting to play. Some hoops require up to 500 kg of concrete for safe installation.
We can do as much or as little as you’d like—whether that’s handling the entire project or just certain parts. You’re also welcome to use your own trades, and I’m happy to speak directly with them to help things go smoothly.
Why are we cheaper?
The simple truth is that we do everything ourselves right here in South Australia.
Most other companies in this space are based interstate and subcontract their work, adding management margins on top of every part of the project — even the court tiles and hoops, which generally come from China. (I encourage you to ask other companies where their tiles are made!) These layers of markup add significant cost.
Because we’re SA-owned and operated, we don’t need to do that — and those savings go straight to you. Even our hoops are provided at cost, with no margin added. You’re also welcome to supply your own hoop, or I can order one and pass it on at cost.
Why? Because these courts are for our kids, families, and friends to get outside and enjoy sport. They should be affordable and accessible so more people can experience them — that’s what drives our mission.
What colours can I chose?
I can supply you with a colour range but basically any main colour. If you google sports courts and find a style you like well do our best to match it.
What logo can I have?
Anything you like! Every court is fully customisable to suit you.
While very small text or fine details might not reproduce well, most designs work perfectly — so feel free to make it as personalised and creative as you want.
There is an additional cost for custom logos, but it’s not excessive, and we’ll always provide a clear quote before proceeding.
What's a good size court?
It really depends on your space and how you plan to use it — but in my opinion, a 5m x 5m court (or similar) is a great size for most residential areas.
We can work with almost any space and customise the design to suit your needs and available area.
What line marking can I have?
You can have any line marking you like!
However, keep in mind that standard court markings (such as regulation key and three-point line measurements) require a fairly large area. For smaller residential courts — like a 5m x 5m setup — we usually recommend “non-standard line marking.”
This approach makes the court look great and fun to use, while we can still include a small reference mark at the correct measurement for accurate practice.
That way, your court is both aesthetically pleasing for casual play and practically useful for real training.
Why does it take so long for the tiles to be laid?
It’s simple — because every court is completely personalised with your chosen colours, lines, and logos.
As a small, locally run business, it doesn’t make sense for us to keep large amounts of tile stock that might never be used. Instead, each court is custom-designed and made to order.
Here’s how the process works:
-
Your court design is created and sent to you for approval.
-
Once approved, a 50% deposit is paid to begin manufacturing.
-
After 5–7 days (depending on factory demand), you’ll receive a proof image of your completed court layout from the factory for final approval.
-
Once approved, the remaining 50% is paid so our partner manufacturer can package and ship your tiles.
-
Shipping takes approximately 5–6 weeks to arrive in Melbourne, where it’s then sent to us for quality checks before being delivered to you.
We have looked into air freight, but at over $1,500 AUD for a 5m x 5m court, it just doesn’t offer good value for our customers. Our goal is to keep your court affordable without compromising on quality.
Why don’t you just get a court direct from China?
You absolutely can, and that’s perfectly fine — but it does come with some risks.
Sending thousands of dollars to an overseas company you’ve never dealt with can be unpredictable. I have an established relationship with a trusted manufacturer and supplier, which guarantees quality, delivery, and consistency.
Through volume buying, we secure a great price on a premium rubber-backed tile, ensuring you get top quality at a fair rate.
Unfortunately, I’ve seen people order tiles directly from overseas only to receive poor-quality products, have shipments go missing, or end up with something completely different from what they expected. In those cases, what started as a way to “save money” often costs more in the long run — or leads to major disappointment.
We’ve all seen the Temu memes or heard the saying, “spending good money after bad.” Our goal is to make sure you don’t end up in that situation.
What hoop can I use?
You can choose any hoop you like — whether it’s one you’ve used before, been recommended by friends, or seen somewhere online.
That said, we prefer Megaslam because of their quality, communication, fast delivery, and good value for money and even better, they are based in Modbury. (megaslam.com.au)
Keep in mind: no matter if your child is going to be the next LeBron James or Steph Curry, the hoop will be outside in the weather. For most home courts, we recommend not spending more than $3,000. A $3,000 inground adjustable hoop from any reputable supplier is more than sufficient.
You can supply the hoop yourself, or I can order it for you — either way, the price is the same, as I don’t add any margin. It’s all about keeping home courts affordable for South Australian families.
When can you start?
The design and initial ballpark process is simple — we can begin as soon as you contact us, and it’s completely free.
To fix a final price, I’ll need to visit your site for a quick check and chat — usually no more than 30 minutes — to assess machine access, concrete access, and any site considerations.
After that, we can usually start within days or a few weeks, depending on our current workload.
Are courts all you do?
While courts are my main focus, I actually come from a broad background in residential and civil construction. I’m also a current Metropolitan Firefighter in SA, working day and night shifts to help keep the community safe.
My construction experience means that if you have other works required — like earthworks, paving, concreting, or drainage — we can manage or provide a quote.
Whether it’s moving thousands of tons of dirt or fixing a small water leak, if it’s outdoors, we can help. We have access to big trucks, diggers, and the experience and contacts needed to support your entire project.
